In this paper, we propose a novel text detection algorithm, which employs edge-enhanced Maximally Stable External Regions (MSER) as basic letter edge enhanced technique. These MSER are then filtered using geometric and stroke width information to exclude non-text objects. Letters are paired to identify text lines, which are subsequently separated into words. These words are further separated into the each letter in the word. Extracting texts explores the possibility for more advanced systems, this project provides the flexibility to extract texts and show them line-byline (in case more that a line extracted). A visual image is rich in information. The main purpose of image enhancement is to bring out detail that is hidden in an image or to increase contrast in a low contrast image. Image enhancement is among the simplest and most appealing areas of digital image processing. Basically, the idea behind enhancement techniques is to bring out detail that is obscured or simply to highlight certain features of interest in an image. The detection and extraction of text regions in an image is a well known problem in the computer vision research area.
