Description
Renewable energy is generally defined as energy that is collected from resources which are naturally replenished on a human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat Renewable energy often provides energy in four important areas: electricity generation, air and water heating/cooling, transportation, and rural (off-grid) energy services In this proposed work is design reduced switch count novel converter for charging different EV models with widely varied battery pack voltages without degrading the efficiency of the system. The proposed converter has two operating modes: a voltage double mode to charge an 800 V battery and a current double mode to charge a 400 V battery at the same power level. The converter is based on a three-leg topology and uses silicon carbide (SiC) devices to achieve high efficiency. The converter has been simulated and prototyped for 500 W power, and the results obtained are provided in the paper. The proposed converter has the potential to simplify and improve the efficiency of inductive power transfer systems for electric vehicles. This implementation is done in Matlab Simulink environment.
