Description
Finding an unoccupied parking spot in a busy urban area can be stressful. Driving block by block to find one vacant spot can also be very time‐consuming. The Smart Parking System has now addressed this issue. We believe that drivers will find the technology helpful in pinpointing available parking spaces, and also mapping out the quickest route to get to the correct location. To achieve this goal, the group has implemented an integrated computer vision and image processing solution. Of course, as is the case for any modern municipality, project economics is of the utmost concern. We feel our software‐based solution is pragmatically most efficient to be implemented in urban communities. As we define parking space perimeters and then determine whether or not the space is available. When a car pulls into or out of a specific spot, a notification is sent to update the status of the spot. The Smart Parking System would have tremendous value in numerous City where there is a shortage of available parking and a need for an efficient management solution. This paper discusses the prototype used for the project, as well as its specifications, performance and evaluation. Testing results are provided to prove the concept and provide a better understanding of the project.
