Abstract
Rice is one of the largest food grains in the world, which provides food for more than one third of globe population. The 94 percent of rice comes from Asia. China is a large rice producer with annual production of 193 million tons, ranking first in the world. The radar remote sensing has been proved as an effectivetool for rice mapping. Rice is grows in warm, humid, cloudy and rainy regions, which leads certain difficulty to optical remote sensing data acquisition. With its advantages of all-weather, independent of illumination and high repeat coverage, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has been proved to be a significant remote sensing data source in rice monitoring. We use polarimetric SAR data to map the Padding Rice.
