This paper is based on the security authentication systems. To reduce the entering of an unauthorized person into the secured circumstances this paper has been developed. The biometrics are used for the authentication purpose. As it is a multimodal process two or more biometrics can be used for this process. In this we have taken face and finger print for the authentication. The face image and finger print image will be processed and after the matching of those images the person will be authenticated otherwise the person will not be authenticated. In our day to day life, the automatic verification of person is a very important task. The traditional method of establishing a person’s identity include knowledge based like password or token based like identification cards, but demonstration of these characteristics can simply be lost, stolen or shared. So for authentication of a person some biometric characters of that person is used. For that purpose one or more biometric characters can be used. But using one character may sometime prove less secure so more than one characters are used. Therefore this is the survey on multimodal biometrics system. The multimodal Biometric System using multiple sources of information has been widely recognized. However computational models for multimodal biometrics recognition have only recently received attention. In this paper the fingerprint and palmprint images are chosen and fused together using image fusion methods. The biometric features are subjected to modality extraction. Different fusion methods like average fusion, minimum fusion, maximum fusion, discrete wavelet transform fusion and stationary wavelet transform fusion are implemented for the fusion of extracting modalities.
