ABSTRACT

                   This work presents results of the ongoing research in the area of natural language

processing focusing on plagiarism detection, applying semantic networks and semantic

compression. The results demonstrate that the semantic compression is a valuable. The application

of the semantic compression boosts the efficiency of Sentence Hashing Algorithm for Plagiarism

Detection 2 (SHAPD2).

Plagiarism refers to the use of someone’s data, language and writing without proper

acknowledgment of the original source. Plagiarism of another author’s original work is one of the

biggest problems in publishing, science, and education.  Plagiarism can be of different types. It

represents a different approach for measuring semantic similarity between words and their

meanings.
