Description

This paper p roposes an energy-efficient securityaware architecture for wireless control s ystems to be used in factory automation. We face deception attacks t hat corrupt commands and m easurements in a smart way and with intermittent behavior to produce t he highest d amage without b eing discovered. The intrusion is hard to distinguish f rom n ormal d isturbance. Furthermore, protection against attacks is energy-consuming and it would b e d esirable to activate protection only when n eeded. We propose p acket-based selective encryption t o reduce energy consumption, and t o d etect when an attack starts and ends. S ince energy consumption d epends also on packet transmission rate, especially during attacks, we also propose t o adapt it according to instantaneous control performance.
