Description
The approximate radix-4 booth multipliers consists of a modified Booth encoding (MBE) to reduce the number of partial product generation. A Booth multiplier consists of three parts: partial product generation using a Booth encoder, partial product accumulation using compressors and final product generation using a fast adder. The Booth encoding has been proposed for improving the performance of multiplication of twoʹs complement binary numbers and it has been further improved by the MBE or radix-4 Booth encoding. The error of approximate adders and multipliers including the mean error distance, the relative error distance and the normalization of booth multiplier.
