Electrical power is the most widely used source of energy for our household’s equipment’s, industries and work places. Population and industrial growth have led to significant increases in power consumption over the past decades. Increase in demand for power and depltion of conventional energy sources have made it necessary to move towards the renewable energy sources for power generation. Traditionally, frequency regulation in power system is achieved by balancing generation and demand through load following, i.e., spinning reserve and non-spinning reserves. In such cases, energy storage and responsive loads show great promise for balancing generation and demand. This paper is concerned with the delay-dependent stability analysis of a class of linear system with multiple time-varying delays. By using appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and integral inequality lemmas, a simple delay-dependent stability criterion is proposed in LMI framework to estimate the maximum allowable bound/range of the time-delay within which the system under consideration remains asymptotically stable. In this project, a multiple time-delayed power system model is constructed with power system stabilizer (PSS) considering time-delays. By using Lyapunov stability theory and linear matrix inequality (LMI) method, two H∞ control schemes are developed for time-varying multiple delayed systems. The proposed controllers ensure the closed-loop system asymptotic stable with H∞ performance. A two-area four-machine power system and the New England 10-machine 39-bus system are employed to demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed methods. The simulation results verify that the designed controllers can improve the control performance significantly.
